Alnus glutinosa
The common alder has quite an upright habit and is particularly useful for planting in wetter areas. Yellow catkins in the spring, a medium sized tree.

Betula nigra (River Birch)
The river birch is not very well known in the UK, but it is a valuable tree in our range. Has spectacular, brown peeling bark, a fairly upright habit and can survive in wetter areas. Small to medium sized tree.

Castanea sativa Variegata
Slower growing cultivar, noted for it's cream edged leaves, a smaller tree. Also prefers lighter soils, but some of our customers have established them locally.

Populus alba (White Poplar)
Makes a large tree with a very broad crown. Well used in exposed planting positions, and tolerant of salt laden winds. Green leaf on top, silver underneath. Needs plenty of room!

Populus nigra Italica (Lombardy Poplar)
A fast growing tree that can be used as a specimen tree or in an avenue planting to create form and structure. Tolerant of nearly all soil conditions.

Salix alba Tristis (White Weeping Willow)
Usually planted on banks or near rivers. A large weeping crown makes thi a very majestic tree. Similar to Salix chrysocoma.

Salix Chrysocoma Tristis (Golden Weeping Willow)
Like 'alba tristis' in many respects and often seen in good sixed gardens as one of the main features. This tree has bright golden bark.
